Norman's Rare Guitars News
Dave Grohl was in recently. He needed to pick up a few extra bucks so we hired him to vacuum the store. He did such a good job that we are putting him on our payroll. JUST KIDDING! Dave purchased a guitar for his buddy and our buddy Taylor Hawkins which is also Dave's drummer. Taylor recently purchased a very rare Supro to give Dave as a gift.
The Amazing Nick (our repairman) recently took care of Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. He brought in vintage Tele's and Strats for servicing for their constant touring schedule.
Our old friend Phil Chen (bassist extraordinaire) was in trading CD's with Norm. Both are fans of rare and vintage RNB artists. It's always a good time when Phil comes in the store!
When in Los Angeles, a band that is a must see is "The Dirty Knobs". This is a band led by Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who shares the double guitar chair with our old friend Jason Sinay. This is one of the most fun guitar bands you will ever see. Mike and Jason share vocals and this band is off the chart! They play in local clubs, so check out their website for events. We just saw them at Cozy's, a club in Sherman Oaks and on the bill was Mike Campbell's son's band, Romeo Delta. This young band should be making waves in the near future. Under the direction of Mike, what else would you expect?

Norm's BIG News!
Norm was just honored with The Spirit of the Golden Heart Award from the Midnight Mission for his fund raising concerts to benefit the Los Angeles homeless population. His long time friend and fellow Midnight Mission supporter, Richie Sambora presented the award to Norm. The gala event was star studded and was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Jeff Lynne (of the Traveling Wilburys), and Elliot Easton (of The Cars) were in attendance. Ed Begley Jr.was the host for the evening and NBC weatherman Fritz Coleman gave a very memorable and hilarious speech. Long time Mission supporter and entertainment icon Dick Van Dyke spoke to the crowd about the importance of the Mission and it's work in Los Angeles. Saturday Night Live (SNL's) Garrett Morris was there as well as many other celebrities.
Providing the musical entertainment for the evening was The Dirty Knobs. The Knob's are Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers side project. If you're in the Los Angeles area, this band is a must see! Mike and Jason Sinay share the guitar and vocal duties and they are one fun band!! The music gave the show a tremendous shot of energy.
The Beverly Hills Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Los Angeles added a great amount of class to the event.
On a side note, Joe Walsh and Jeff Lynne came by Norm's store a few days prior to the event and purchased some beautiful guitars.
